About Seeds of Peace

Factsheet

  • The Path to Peace, feature-length documentary produced by merge:media, will be a powerful and engaging work of cinema. The film is an intimate and candid document of the incredible stories and experiences at the heart of Seeds of Peace. The footage shot during the summer of 2002 is of a high caliber and production value. The final film will be presented in widescreen with original score.

  • All donations to The Path To Peace project are 501(c)(3) tax deductible. The film’s not-for-profit status is sponsored through Film/Video Arts (462 Broadway, Suite 520, New York, NY 10013; phone 212- 941-8787). As part of the terms of the contract between merge:media and Seeds of Peace, as much as 50% of the Net Profit from the sale of the film will be donated back to Seeds of Peace.

  • The Production budget of $70,991 was raised during May of 2002 and was used in its entirety in the shooting of the film. The budget for Post-Production is estimated at $75,000. Currently merge:media has raised $15,000 towards that goal. Editing commenced on April 14th in Los Angeles, in collaboration with Yana Gorskaya (editor of the 2003 Oscar® nominated film, Spellbound). The balance of post-production funds must now be raised with some urgency.

  • To date, the largest funder has been a charitable trust based in London, the Al-Madad Foundation. They continue to support the project and are commited to helping raise more funds. All other funders have been private individuals, including luminaries such as CNN's Chief International Correspondent, Christiane Amanpour.

  • Post-Production funds raised at this stage will cover costs associated with the editing of the film and the composition of an original score. By September 2003 the film will be in its "fine cut" form, with only final Post-Production work such as on-line graphics, sound mix, final scoring and music mix, and print-to-film remaining.

  • At fine cut stage, merge:media will begin marketing the film to potential distributors and sales agents. Based on initial interest so far, we hope for a quick sale to an entity that will help cover the final Post-Production costs as part of the terms of the sale. Our intended distribution plan for the film will include an initial national Theatrical and Festival/Awards run followed by a Television broadcast deal.
